What is the Home and School Association (also known as the Home School Association or HSA)? The Home School Association is what would be called the PTA or PTO at some schools. Saint Cecelia School's HSA, as well as the other Catholic schools in our diocese, are all part of the Diocese of Metuchen's Home School Association.
The HSA is an important part of the school community and is not only the voice of the parents in the school, it is also an important support mechanism for the school through it's volunteerism and fund-raising.
Volunteering at St. Cecelia School
Volunteering is an integral part of the success of our school. People who contribute time and energy to activities are providing an invaluable service to St. Cecelia School.
Volunteering is fun! It is a great way to meet new friends and other parents. Students appreciate seeing their families involved in activities and your example supports the value of community service.
Volunteering is important because it is a good way to stay involved in your child's school, be heard and make a difference. Helping the school offers a great opportunity to keep the lines of communication open between home and school.
Volunteers provide the majority of our school's fundraising efforts such as our annual Fair, Tricky Tray Auction, and Bingo. We could not execute these events without people giving their time to helping.
There are many ways one can volunteer, some examples are:
• Clean up our schoolyard
• Spruce up our gardens
• Family Fun Nights
• Class parents
• Committees
• Open House Participation
• Home School Association
Volunteers, we can use any skills you have, plumbing, electrical, painting, IT and networking training, and so on. We will find a job for you!
We can't do it without you!
Please contact us if you would like to volunteer:

Family Fun Nights
Anything is possible when parents and kids get together! A great way that our St. Cecelia community comes together is through Family Fun Night. One Friday night of each month we enjoy a themed evening of family fun in the gym or Lourdes Hall depending on the event. Such themes include our Ice Cream Social, the Monster's Ball for Halloween, Arts & Crafts Night, Silly Olympics and Mini Carnival. Family Fun Night is a great way to get to know other families that we wouldn't otherwise meet. These fun filled evenings are sponsored by the Home School Association so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time. Interested in helping us with organizing a Family Fun Night? Let us know! We welcome new ideas and volunteers. Please contact us at familyfun@stcecelia.org.
The St. Cecelia's Iselin Fair
The St. Cecelia's Iselin Fair is the school community's biggest fundraiser of the year. It is has been a summer tradition for over 76 years. The St. Cecelia's fair is NOT your "ordinary" school fair. It is a community wide event attended by thousands of people from all over Middlesex County and the surrounding areas. The fair is complete with over 25 games and rides for all ages, exceptional food, and concert quality entertainment. We pride ourselves in cooking our own fair food especially our world famous St. Cecelia style pizza.
What makes our fair unique is the amazing multi-cultural entertainment. Every night at the fair is packed with exciting acts from all over the Tri State area. Such acts include, local dance schools, bands, magicians, clowns, comedians, radio stations, up and coming new artists along with well know professional talents. All perform on a professional center stage and the entire week is hosted by well-known DJ CINTRONICS of SIRIUS radio. Some past acts include recording artist Judy Torres, Shannon, jazz band Quiet Girls Production, KTU, Z100 and many more! But the best part is that all of the entertainment is totally FREE!
What sets us apart from the rest is family atmosphere, the feeling of community and the friendly environment. Whether you are an "old" family or a "new" family at St. Cecelia's you will be welcomed with open arms. Whether you are an active member of the School/Parish community or a complete stranger to our school, you will be met with friendly cheer and everyone will feel at home. There is something exciting for everyone to do at the fair. See pictures from last year's fair.
Everyone who works the fair is a volunteer, from the planning committee, to the people running the games, to the entertainers performing on stage. These volunteers are made up of school and parish families, some of which do not have children attending St. Cecelia's but still want to come out and volunteer. Ever year we need volunteers to do many different tasks and we count on our families to come out and support their school and parish.
New talents are welcomed every year at the fair. Would you like to see your favorite band, singer, magician, comedian or your children showcased at the fair? If so please contact us at fair@stceceliaschool.org for more information.
Looking forward to another year, see you at the fair!
