Curriculum

Saint Cecelia School has a tradition of academic excellence. We are Middles States accredited and consistently score above the national average on the Terra Nova tests. Our curriculum is based on guidelines established by the Diocese of Metuchen.

Saint Cecelia School curriculum includes:

  • Math – New Progress in Math (Sadlier, Inc), Pre-Algebra and Algebra I (McDougal Littell). Advanced Math classes offered for grades 7 & 8 (Houghton Mifflin Math)
  • Reading – Celebrate Reading (Scott Foresman)
  • Phonics – Phonics (Scott Foresman)
  • English – Grammar Workbook (Scott Foresman) and Voyages in English (Loyola University Press)
  • Literature – Literature (Prentice Hall)
  • Spelling – Spelling Workbook (Scott Foresman) and Vocabulary Workbooks (Sadlier, Inc.)
  • Religion – Our Sunday Visitor (Our Sunday Visitor, Inc.), Discovering God's Word (Sadlier, Inc.), This is Faith (Silver Burdet/Ginn). Christ Our Life (Loyola Press)
  • Penmanship – Zaner Blaser
  • Readiness (for Pre-K & K) – Scholastic Jump-Start and The Letter People (Scholastic)
  • Science – Science (McGraw-Hill) and Life & Earth Science (Prentice Hall). Students in grades 4 – 8 are able to utilize our fully equiped science lab.
  • Social Studies – We the People (Houghton Mifflin and Hardcourt)
  • Spanish, Physical Education, Computers, Music, Media and Art – All students participate in these specials once a week. Each is offered in their respective classrooms.
  • Library – All students have library once a week in our new state-of-the-art library which includes computers with internet access, for research purposes
  • Speech, remedial math and reading classes are available when needed
